MACA – Re-fresher/Experienced Operator Heavy Equipment Training
In this program, students will receive compulsory/core training in the following; introduction to heavy equipment operation, introduction to the knowledge and use of heavy equipment, introduction to equipment systems and preventative maintenance procedures. This course also includes practical training on each of four pieces of heavy equipment (crawler dozer, motor grader, front-end loader, track or rubber tired excavator). A minimum of 6 hours will be required on each piece of equipment to complete the course – 4 pieces @ 6 hrs per machine = 24 hours + 18 hours classroom = 42 hour program length
Curriculum includes learning components in the following categories:
• Knowledge and Use of Heavy Equipment
• Equipment Systems
• Preventative Maintenance Procedures
• Knowledge and Use of Heavy Equipment
Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
1. Describe personal safety practices.
2. Describe the different types of equipment and its purposes.
3. Describe the importance of preventative maintenance.
4. Describe relationships among the basic elements of heavy equipment operation.
