This is the season that summer students start entering the workforce. Did you know that young workers are at higher risk of incident and injury? There are two reasons for this:
1. Young workers often do not yet understand their rights, and because of that, they are less likely to raise safety concerns.
2. Young workers have less job experience.
Safety training is mandatory for all youth entering the workforce. With young workers, that may mean taking some time to set a strong foundation for safety on the first days and weeks on the job.
To launch the Young Workers’ Program, the WSCC is leading a MACA webinar Thursday April 28, 2022 at 10:00 am. Representatives from WSCC will highlight their online and printable tools and resources that have been designed for young workers and those that employ them. They will answer any questions you have on training requirements. If you employ summer students, part-time workers, or anyone under the age of 25, this presentation will provide you with an understanding of your responsibilities and resources to help train the next generation of safety minded workers. We look forward to seeing you there.
